Two new bridges of the same design were built across the Truckee River at Lake Street and Sierra Street in 1937. Above is the Lake Street Bridge shortly after it opened. The small house on the right side of the photograph is in the location later occupied by the National Automobile Museum. Below is the new Sierra Street Bridge with the Riverside Hotel and the post office in the background. (Above, courtesy of NHS, WA-4319; below, courtesy of NHS, WA-11331.)

This promotional postcard of the Riverside Hotel with the Washoe County Courthouse next door dates from 1940. Diagonal parking was permitted on the bridges at that time. To the right/west of the hotel, the space on which an addition would be completed in 1950 is still vacant; west of that is the Chrysler-Plymouth dealer, Hermann & Wilson.
